Eating can be very disturbing. It’s not that I don’t love food. It’s just that it doesn’t seem to love me back. In trying to eliminate the problems I have come up with a few possibilities:
1. I don’t chew my food well enough. I always do seem to be in a hurry in everything I do. Remembering to chew well is a problem, too. I hope this is one of the culprits. Such a painless way to solve the problem.
2. One or more of the foods I regularly eat has turned on me. I wish the enemy would just come forth and identify itself. Is it the Dairy Family? They have been some of my best friends all through my life. I enjoy spending time with them morning, noon, and night. Mmmm, cheese, ice cream, pudding, whipped cream, and milk with its best friends: chocolate, doughnuts, and, graham crackers.
3. The brain-gut connection. The experts say that there are so many nerve connections in the digestive system that is like it has a brain of its own. I guess I have to do a little less multi-tasking when I eat for one thing and relax! [I don't know how to do links but this is an interesting topic to look up on Google.]
4. Food combinations matter. I really hope this one is not it! I did some research on this and there would be no more sandwiches, period. I just can’t ‘buy’ into this one. All the years when I didn’t really have digestive problems–I ate whatever combination I felt like.
Hmm, when I started this post several weeks ago, I had a 5 for a fifth item but I don’t know what it was. Furthermore, I recall Ben talking about stale posts and I don’t think I like doing them and this is one. Hey, it does kind of fit with the subject though, doesn’t it?
5. Stale ‘food’ is not agreeable and should be thrown out!
I’ve decided not to throw out this stale post though, as in delete it. It would be a waste of my valuable time. You know sometimes I think the same way almost about food. I do not want to throw away leftovers even though they might be a little too old and I don’t want to leave any food on my plate because that would be a waste–so in both cases, I eat them–but what is the greatest waste, eating food you don’t need or throwing it away–actually it doesn’t get wasted anyway, we have a dog who loves ‘people’ food!
Yes! This actually feels like getting rid of leftovers by serving them up to you all. Sorry I still have two more stale ones to go!! It feels kind of good though. Maybe this will cure my writer’s block!

LOL! Let the flood gates open! Stale or fresh!
Ooh, speaking of food, I was noticing today that I had an even bigger apetite than usual – and I think that it has something to do with all the studying I’ve been doing. It’s kindof funny, but I actually lost weight in the MTC, just sitting there in classes all day – I think brain exercise must be good for metabolism.

Thanks for your support and encouragement! “Let the flood gates open! Stale or fresh!” LOL
Well, you know me. I just had to do some research on your comment. So if you type in “calories burned by thinking” you will get Google Answers (I really need to learn how to do the link thing). Anyway, here’s some of what they have to say: “Energy consumption in the brain is related to learning. In other words, when you’ve learned something (like mastering that chess game), the energy consumption goes down.”
It also said that the brain may use 30% of a body’s total energy, while being only 2-3% of total body mass.
Our brains sure have to work hard for their size don’t they?

Hi Shirley, Thanks for the posts on your Blog. I have sure missed seeing them !! Well about not eating all our food- either leaving some on your plate or it getting too old and stale.. as Mother used to say “Better to go to waste, than Waist”. I think of that quite often. and yes, it is nice that you have a dog that can eat the little bits that you might not want. I love food too, but am still having problems tasting it right. I’ve often thought when I’ve had this problem, that I sure wish I could lose weight, when most of the foods I eat don’t have much flavor for me. But alas that has not happened yet. Will write more on this subject at a later date..

Barbs–I’m sorry you can’t taste your foods very well.
At first thought it does seem like that could make it easier to eat less and maybe even healthier since taste wouldn’t be overly influencing things, but then on second thought, there might be a tendency to keep eating longer trying to get the satisfaction that comes from taste. So Mom said, “Better to go to waste than waist?” I didn’t remember her saying it. Good advice!

Okay this is the post where I said, “I recall Ben talking about stale posts.” I’m not sure of that. Sorry, Ben. I do want to be a credible writer and I need to be more sure of the things I say. Holly mentioned “stale posts.” Ben talked about “rough drafts.” Since Ben is a very prolific writer, he just may have mentioned stale posts. Not sure.
Hmm,if I do rough drafts I won’t have any stale posts!
